As an actor and voice teacher, Phil has been part of Chicago’s theatre community for 25 years.

Phil taught at DePaul University’s Theatre School for eighteen years and served as the Head of Voice and Speech. He is both an Associate Teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework and a Roy Hart Voice Centre Teacher. (He won a Fulbright Fellowship to France to study at the Centre.) Voice and dialect coaching credits include the Goodman Theatre, American Players Theatre, Victory Gardens, and First Folio Theatre.

Phil is an ensemble member of Lifeline Theatre. He has received three Non-Equity Jeff Nominations for Best Supporting Actor and one nomination for Best Performer in a Principal Role. His adaptation of Jane Austen's “Emma” for Lifeline received two Jeff Nominations. He is a member of VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association) and SAG-AFTRA.
